Claim overtime

Record the extra hours you worked, see the pay worked out for you, and cancel a claim.

On the OT Claims screen you claim the overtime you worked. The pay is worked out for you from the kind of day and your salary.

Who can do this

Anyone in the workspace whose account is linked to their employee record, whatever their role. You can only claim your own overtime here. Owners and admins enter overtime for someone else on the overtime approvals screen.

Before you start

Your account must be linked to your employee record.

Steps

  1. Open HR, then OT Claims under Applications.
  2. Click Claim OT.
  3. Choose the Date worked. It cannot be in the future.
  4. Type the Hours, in whole or half hours, such as 2 or 2.5.
  5. Add a Reason (optional) if you want, up to 500 characters.
  6. Check the line under the form. It shows the kind of day (Weekday, Rest day or Public holiday), the rate it is paid at, and the amount.
  7. Click Submit overtime. The claim appears under My requests as Pending.

If no salary is on file for you yet, the amount shows Not calculated. It is worked out once HR sets your salary.

Cancel an overtime claim

You can cancel only while the claim is pending and it has not been paid in a payroll run. Click Cancel on its row, then Confirm. Cancelling cannot be undone.

Common problems

  • "Overtime is at least half an hour." Enter 0.5 hours or more.
  • "Overtime cannot be more than 24 hours in a day." Check the hours.
  • "Use whole or half hours." Round to the nearest half hour.
  • "That would be more than 24 hours of overtime on one day." With the overtime already claimed for that day, this would go over 24 hours.
