Connect your AI provider
Connect OpenAI, Gemini or OpenRouter once for everyone in your workspace.
Owners and admins can set up one shared AI connection. Staff do not need personal AI accounts.
- Open AI connection from your account settings.
- Choose OpenAI, Gemini or OpenRouter.
- Enter an assistant model ID and a supporting model ID available to your provider account. You can use the same model for both.
- Create an API key with your provider: OpenAI, Google AI Studio, or OpenRouter.
- Paste the key into the password field and click Save AI connection.
onhr checks the key using the provider's metadata endpoint, then encrypts the key, provider and model IDs together for your workspace. Saving does not generate a paid AI response. The provider may still require API credits or billing before chat can run. Only the last four characters of the key are displayed.
API access is separate from a ChatGPT subscription or Google sign-in. AI requests send your prompt and relevant workspace information to the selected provider. Normal HR functions, including clock-in, do not need AI.
Replace AI connection replaces the current connection for everyone in the workspace. Remove key disconnects it. Each person can send up to 200 workspace chat turns per day, resetting at midnight UTC (8 am Malaysia time). Provider usage fees and limits also apply.
Existing OpenRouter connections continue working. Scheduled AI jobs remain subject to the server's scheduling configuration; adding a key does not enable disabled schedules.
