Choose your notifications

Pick which events you hear about in the notification bell, and see your latest notifications.

Notifications tell you when something needs you, such as a request waiting for your approval. They appear under the bell at the top of the app.

Who can do this

Every signed-in person chooses their own notifications, whatever their role. In the demo workspace the choices are read-only, and push can't be turned on.

Steps

Read your notifications

  1. Click the bell at the top of the app. A dot on the bell means you have unread notifications.
  2. Click a notification to open what it is about. It is marked as read.
  3. Click Mark all read to mark them all as read and clear the dot.
  4. Click Notification settings to change what you get.

Choose what you get

  1. Open Notifications. You can also find it in the account side menu under Account.
  2. Under Delivery channels, turn In-app or Push on or off. With In-app off, nothing new reaches your bell, except security alerts.
  3. Under What you get notified about, tick or untick the In-app box for each event:
    • New leads
    • Deal stage changes
    • Payments & invoices
    • Team activity
    • Requests from your team
    • Decisions on your requests
    • Roster changes
    • Shift swaps
    • Hiring
    • Weekly summary
    • Product updates
  4. Click Save changes.

You see Notification preferences saved.

Get push on your phone or computer

Push shows a notification on your device even when onhr isn't open. Turn it on separately on each phone or computer you use.

  1. Open Notifications on the device you want push on.
  2. Under Push on this device, click Turn on.
  3. When your browser asks, allow notifications.

You see Push is on for this device. The Push channel under Delivery channels turns on too. Your device is listed under Your devices, with This device next to the one you are using.

Where it works:

  • Laptop or desktop: Chrome, Edge or Firefox. On a Mac, Safari 16 or later also works.
  • Android: Chrome or Firefox.
  • iPhone or iPad: you need iOS 16.4 or later. Add onhr to your Home Screen first (Share → Add to Home Screen), open it from there, then turn push on.

Push follows the Push ticks under What you get notified about. It only goes out for events whose In-app box is ticked. While In-app is off, nothing is pushed, except security alerts. Requests from your team has push ticked to start with, so approvals waiting on you reach you without any setup. If you saved your choices before push existed, tick it yourself.

A notification can arrive up to 5 minutes after the event. If you already read it in the app, it is not pushed.

Stop push or remove a device

  • To stop push on the device you are using, click Turn off.
  • To remove any device, click Remove next to it under Your devices. Use this for a phone you no longer have.

What works today

  • In-app notifications are live and follow your choices.
  • Push works on each device where you turn it on. It can take up to 5 minutes to arrive.
  • Email is not connected yet. You can tick it, and the page saves your choice for later, but nothing is sent by email.
  • Security alerts are always on and can't be turned off. These include a changed password and two-step sign-in being turned on or off.

Not working yet

  • Quiet hours (Pause notifications overnight, From, To) are marked Coming soon. Your choice is saved for later, but it does not hold or pause any notifications yet. Times are shown in the timezone from your profile.

Common problems

  • Push isn't set up on this server. The people who run your onhr haven't set push up yet.
  • Add onhr to your Home Screen first. On an iPhone or iPad, push only works from the Home Screen app.
  • Notifications are blocked for this site. Allow notifications for onhr in your browser settings, then click Turn on again.
  • You can have push on up to 10 devices. Remove a device you no longer use, then try again.
  • Please choose valid quiet hours. Pick a time from each list.
  • The demo workspace is read-only. Sign up to save changes. Demo choices cannot be changed.
